First Quest: Grand Opening of the Seven Winds Health and Beauty Spa

This is Deedee Yeowoo, lately of Elysium.

I’ve used some of what I earned from the last job to start a business in the Brimstone district, the Seven Winds Health and Beauty spa. So far we have a hot spring, a cool bath, and some tables and chairs for bodywork.

Naturally, I intend to further the cause with the place, both as a safe retreat and place for me to heal Corsairs in trouble and to get rich nobles so pampered and relaxed that they’ll forget they’re in front of the help and blab about how hard their job is and all the stupid regulations their boss put in place to stop, say, the Corsairs from waltzing in.

If anyone needs healing or rest, stop by. I’m also going to need supplies - salves, soaps, oils and incense, even actual real medicine. If there’s anything like a truth potion that would also be very helpful.

What I don’t know about this world’s religious traditions probably fills a good-size room in the Vault - and as a godbotherer of Mundus I should probably fix that - but that wouldn’t be the first time mixing church and state was a bad idea.

“Inquisition” is a word to run from very fast.

I could tell you something about the Church of the Divine, but I'm afraid I don't know much about other traditions. Church orphanages weren't a good place to learn about forbidden texts.

Luckier than that. I mananged to hang on to one of my parents growing up, at least. Just have experience with religious institutions, not all of it good.

Not all of it bad, either. I am a godbotherer.

'Godbotherer', huh? I don't know if I would want to bother a god but I do feel like I am missing something, spiritually speaking. I'd be interested in listening, if you are interested in talking.

The first thing you have to understand before I can even start explaining it is that this I didn't come here from my home-world, where if God exists Their movements are subtle.

I came here from another world called Mundus, where there are definitely multiple Gods with different spheres of influence who, uh, honor vows and sanctify oaths.

The technical term for someone who's job it is to make those oaths and vows and negotiate for blessings is "Cleric" but a lot of Mundanes called us 'godbotherers' as a joke.

...being that irreverent about gods who honor vows and sanctify oaths is asking for trouble, if you ask me. At the very least, their followers wouldn't hold you in much respect.

I've heard there are some gods of that shape in this world, but I've not learned much about them yet. You may be the greatest authority I've met so far on the topic.

Just so you know, my being the greatest authority on living gods you've met is terrifying.

...You would think they'd have no sense of humor, but my Mundane patron, the Laughing Wind named Sylphan is a trickster-god. If you aren't at least a little irreverent to him you're not worth his time.

Thank you, I think. But I'm more a water element and I'm not sure if I could encompass all of civilization, that sounds very...queenly.

Anyways, maybe we should talk more about this in person if I hit up your shop! I think it might do these shoulders some good to not be carrying books all day or trying to reach the top shelf.
