Side Quest 01

[At the end of the skyship battle - when all the escort ships are destroyed, and everyone is making their way back to the surface - Link sends an image to the network.

It's a selfie. In the foreground is Link, posing with one hand out to the side as he stands on the deck of the Corsair ship. Behind him is one of the Empire escort ships, alight with flames. Link has managed to angle the camera so that it looks like the burning ship is held in his hand.]

A fine prize for a victorious hunter. Finding a place to dock it may be tricky, though.

[Another image; but now Link has moved over to the side of the ship, so that this selfie shoes the ocean below in the background. Link's face, as usual, is neutral.

Seems this prize's fate is to feed the fishes]

Don't know how the other mission went.

[But that's not going to stop Link from sending another image. This time, he's tossed one of his bomb flowers off the side of the ship - and managed to snap a picture at the moment of explosion. Fireworks!

Or, you know, Link's closest approximation of them.]

[Fiore understands that she's looking at a trick of perspective. She just does not care because this is a fun bit.]

[Link obliges; now sending through another image. This time he's shifted posited slightly, so that he's a little further away - and outstretched his arm, as if he had thrown something.

It rather effectively makes for a picture that gives the illusion that he has just tossed it]

Brilliant! I gotta play with the camera on this thing some more.

[She's not on the mission, so she'll need to come back in a few minutes.]

[But when she does it's with what's obviously a very small fish that she's holding close enough to the camera to make it look as big as she is.]

[Link approves! As evident by the fact that he returns her picture with another one that appears to have been inspired by it.

This time, Link has taken a selfie where he's holding out a razorclaw crab in front of his face - giving the impression that he in fact has a crab for a head.]

A cunning, armored opponent. I'll need to break out the polehammer for this one.

[Another post that's Fiore just holding a normal hammer in front of her spear to create a comically large hammer on a stick.]

[Pity Link didn't have access to the Fuse ability anymore - Link suspects Fiore would get a kick out of it.

This time, Link takes another photo of this same crab. Except this time he's held it aloft, high up in the sky. It's been positioned so that the sun looks like it's about to be crushed within its claw]

In-person, nearby

[Nephenee's sitting down nearby, taking a break from sorting some stuff they grabbed to gulp down water from a canteen, when her device chirps from there being a new post. She takes a look...and promptly spits out her water as she laughs far harder than she has since she got to this world, and probably for the first time in public here. It's a bright, warm sound that comes from the gut, and she's practically doubled-over from it.

Sorry, Link, she's just going to be useless over here.]

[At first, it seems like Link hasn't noticed her reaction at all.

Except for the fact that several minutes later, he sends through another picture. This time, Link has struck a thoughtful pose...while Nephenee herself is doubled over laughing in the background]

[Well, she HAD gotten calmed down...Dang it, Link, how is she supposed to get ahold of herself when you do that?! Despite her calming down from before, the picture makes her laugh even harder than earlier despite her attempts to calm down.]

N-Nooo, w-why'd...ya...post that?!

[Her reputation of a cool, collected battlemaiden will never survive this! Her sides may never recover from this assault!]

[Link gives no justifications. He just posts another selfie with her laughing in the background, although this time Link's pose has him standing with his arms crossed.]

[What does that even mean, Link?! And what in tarnation is that, anyway? How's he getting the video to be still?]

W-what are ya...e'en...doin'??

[It's hard to ask questions when you're trying to get ahold of yourself and also trying to not cry because you're laughing so hard.]

It's at this point, finally, that Link stops spamming her with endless selfies.

She's close enough by now that she could easily dodge out of the way anyway. So instead he shifts his device so he can see the photo album - with his last few selfies all visible.

"Camera," he says.

Nephenee looks at the device, tilting her head in visible confusion.

"Ca...mera?" This isn't like anything she's seen back home, and frankly, she just knows of the text and video things on the devices. She didn't know this thingy existed!

Link nods, and angles his device so she can see. He points it at the the deck of the ship, where the mast is, and presses the camera 'rune'. Click!

"It makes pictures," he says.

Thaaat's absolutely bonkers to the Sentinel, and she stares in wonder.

"Is that what they're called, the still images? That's amazin'...ya jus' hit the button an' it...keeps it, Ah guess?"

Link nods.

"Like a painting." Except you didn't have to actually paint it. Which was a good thing, because Link had absolutely zero skill with a paintbrush.

Nephenee's not much better. She can doodle decently, but her paintings would be like a 5-year-old's probably, since she's never painted before. There is no painting talent between these two!

"Whoa..." Magic and technology are cool...she fidgets a little, before working up the nerve to ask, "Um...can Ah try?"

Link blinks, looking faintly confused at the fact that she needs to ask.

"You have one?" He says, eyebrows furrowed. Sure, Link could lend her his communicator...but surely she'd prefer to use her own instead, so she could easily keep the pictures?

Now it's her turn to blink, and then to blush.

"Oh, right...Ah...didn't e'en realize 'til jus' now that mine could do it..."

She's very much not used to technology, so it never occurred to her, and she got too focused on the topic. Oops. She's actually decently intelligent, honest!
