[It’s been a few months since Nephenee’s been tugged into this world, but up til now, she’s…kinda done what she tends to do when in new situations, and that is focus on her job, and hermit. She’s not really introduced herself to many, mostly staying in the back and occasionally piping up when needed, always in practical clothing and under a hat obscuring her face in some shadow, like she’s trying to hide, and doing her job of taking care of critters and beating up people that need beating up. She certainly hasn’t introduced herself on the network or to the Corsairs at large.
After this last planning and execution cycle, though? She’s gotten her armour back, and her best lance (among some other things), and it’s helped her to regain some confidence (Mostly because they’re a security blanket of sorts…). She’s practiced for this, and wants to finally try to get to know people!
When the feed comes on, the first sight for folks is the wooden ceiling above, then the camera quickly wiggling around as she tries to center the view. When the woman does get it to show her, they’ll see a cabin like that in Flotsam dotted here and there with flowers in pots, light filtering in from a window off-screen. A tall, lovely, lean-muscled woman in armour with fair skin & long green hair covered by the helm obscuring part of her face sits there, a possibly familiar shield against the wall behind her to the right, and two polearms on the wall, a metal one that looks like the head’s been broken off, and a regal halberd. She gives a small bow with her head and upper torso like she’s seen Shu and others back home do. Right…she can do this!
When she speaks, it’s with some hesitance, and with a soft, warm, sweet voice like warm apple pie that sounds like a mixture of country and something like the Chūgoku dialect of Japan, sort of like someone from Hiroshima? But also a little like the Carolinas in the States. It's an odd mixture.]
H-Hi, everyone. Um, apologies for…not introducin’ myself ‘fore now…lot goin’ on, ya know?
[A lot of shyness and turtling, more like (no offense intended to our resident turtlekin, of course).]
Um, Ah’m Nephenee, from Crimea, on the continent o’Tellius…Ah’m a Sentinel an’ guard under Her Majesty, Queen Elincia, an’ Ah’m stationed in Flotsam. [Belatedly, she realizes her own title may not be translating properly.] Er, that is…Sorry, not used to the words here yet. Um, Sentinels are…uh, Ah think it got described to me as Elite Lancers who stride battlefields with calm an' surety?
[She’s underselling the first word; it’s better translated “Legendary”. But regardless, the calm and surety part is in direct opposition to her presentation and how she feels.]
A-Anyway, Ah’m lookin’ for folks to train with, an’ learn new stuff from? There’s…a lotta stuff here Ah ain’t used to, an’ Ah’d like to learn how to do more stuff, an’ how to defend against all this stuff Ah ain’t used to. Um, Ah have a bow, too, but Ah’m not as good with that. Um, my first halberd here broke [She hooks a thumb back at that broken polearm], so if anyone's...good at hand-to-hand, Ah'd sure like to know how to do that...
Um, also…Ah’d…like to get to know folks? Ah’m also a farmer back home, so…Ah know a lot ‘bout plants an’ animals, an’ things like cookin’ an’...other country stuff. [She rubs that back of her neck mentioning that, eyes that look to be perhaps green darting away for a moment, but presses on.] Like…cookin’ an’ bakin’ an’ makin’ stuff. Um, Ah also like tea, have a buncha blends o’it already…an’...um, Ah’d…like to have folks over for tea or lunch some time?
[She’s kind of hit her limit, now, so the rest comes out a bit too fast.]
A-Anyway, A-Ah look forward to meetin’ an’ gettin’ to know all y’all!
[And she hurriedly turns off the feed, flustered and muttering in another language about her poor grammar and word choices.]

We have spoken before. Well - I do need more experience with fighting against opponents using weapons other than swords or guns, so we could possibly learn from each other.

When she pops back up, though, she has a small smile and isn't blushing quite so bad. At least she remembers Harlock being nice.]
H-Hiya Si-er, Ah mean, Hiya, Harlock. [Almost didn't catch herself!] Ah'm pretty used to fightin' 'gainst swords, but everyone's style here is real different from each other's so it's good to learn more. Ah, uh...don't know nothin' 'bout guns, though. Those are them long metal 'splodey things that can hit froma distance, right?
[Certainly one way to describe them!]
Are those what you use? Ah can't 'member if we've talked 'bout that 'fore now.
[Kind of a lot has happened since then, to be honest.]

[And boy he can imagine Tochiro having a bit of a fit at such a simplistic explanation]
Sounds like they are not common where you are from? And - how familiar are you with dealing with someone who uses more than one weapon at a time?
no subject
Naw, we have somethin' called "bowguns" but they ain't like these. They're jus' weak crossbows. Nothin' explosive like these...or e'en bombs or bomb flowers, for that matter.
[She has to think for a moment, hand at her chin as she goes through memories of war. It makes her muscles subtly twitch, like she's reliving them.]
...Ah...don't believe we fought anyone usin' two at once? Like, folks might swap 'em quick, but Ah don't think Ah e'er saw someone use more than one in hand at a time, 'less ya count a shield like mine as one. Altina, one o'Ashera's Three Heroes, used two at once, Ragnell an' Alondite, from what Ah've heard, but she was a special case. E'en General Ike couldn't do that. So...not very.
no subject
Granted, I am usually shooting with both.
[He realized she said something odd]
Bomb... flowers?
no subject
[Uh, yeah, that thought's...going to distract her for a second, before she catches his question.]
Yeah. Ah'd never seen or heard o'em 'fore Ah helped Sir Link get some o'his stuff back from a merchant house we heard had some stuff stolen from different folks. Lil' explosive plants! Whoda thought?
[She doesn't catch herself before she makes a motion with both hands of an explosion expanding outward at the thought. Dork.]

[Harlock trails off - he's no expert on what is to him ancient weaponry.]
Actually - I am surprised I had not run into such things in my own world.

Ah mean...the Wishblade's pretty big.
[She gets up, teal cloth panels swaying around her as she turns to get it, and she tilts to device up a bit so he can get a better view of its scale.
Nephenee's easily around 6 feet in shoes. That lance has a foot or so on her easy.]
See? An' ya said you're surprised ya ain't seen bomb flower-like thingies back home? That sorta thing common?
no subject
No, but there is a planet where due to the weapons used in a world-wide war the plants started to move around and ate people - and an enemy we encountered used plants they altered to try to kill me and my crew.
[And now Harlock isn't sure what would have been worse - getting blown up, or their own bodies shutting down due to a strange allergic reaction... at least alcohol could cure the latter]
So an exploding plant would not have been out of the realm of possibility... I didn't realize how big lances can get.
no subject
...Come again? Did...Ah hear ya right? Plants movin' an...eatin' folks??
[Seriously, what.]
no subject
It is a result of the kind of weapons they were using in that war.
no subject
[Goodness...]
...What...e'en sorta weapons...could do that?
