[It’s been a few months since Nephenee’s been tugged into this world, but up til now, she’s…kinda done what she tends to do when in new situations, and that is focus on her job, and hermit. She’s not really introduced herself to many, mostly staying in the back and occasionally piping up when needed, always in practical clothing and under a hat obscuring her face in some shadow, like she’s trying to hide, and doing her job of taking care of critters and beating up people that need beating up. She certainly hasn’t introduced herself on the network or to the Corsairs at large.
After this last planning and execution cycle, though? She’s gotten her armour back, and her best lance (among some other things), and it’s helped her to regain some confidence (Mostly because they’re a security blanket of sorts…). She’s practiced for this, and wants to finally try to get to know people!
When the feed comes on, the first sight for folks is the wooden ceiling above, then the camera quickly wiggling around as she tries to center the view. When the woman does get it to show her, they’ll see a cabin like that in Flotsam dotted here and there with flowers in pots, light filtering in from a window off-screen. A tall, lovely, lean-muscled woman in armour with fair skin & long green hair covered by the helm obscuring part of her face sits there, a possibly familiar shield against the wall behind her to the right, and two polearms on the wall, a metal one that looks like the head’s been broken off, and a regal halberd. She gives a small bow with her head and upper torso like she’s seen Shu and others back home do. Right…she can do this!
When she speaks, it’s with some hesitance, and with a soft, warm, sweet voice like warm apple pie that sounds like a mixture of country and something like the Chūgoku dialect of Japan, sort of like someone from Hiroshima? But also a little like the Carolinas in the States. It's an odd mixture.]
H-Hi, everyone. Um, apologies for…not introducin’ myself ‘fore now…lot goin’ on, ya know?
[A lot of shyness and turtling, more like (no offense intended to our resident turtlekin, of course).]
Um, Ah’m Nephenee, from Crimea, on the continent o’Tellius…Ah’m a Sentinel an’ guard under Her Majesty, Queen Elincia, an’ Ah’m stationed in Flotsam. [Belatedly, she realizes her own title may not be translating properly.] Er, that is…Sorry, not used to the words here yet. Um, Sentinels are…uh, Ah think it got described to me as Elite Lancers who stride battlefields with calm an' surety?
[She’s underselling the first word; it’s better translated “Legendary”. But regardless, the calm and surety part is in direct opposition to her presentation and how she feels.]
A-Anyway, Ah’m lookin’ for folks to train with, an’ learn new stuff from? There’s…a lotta stuff here Ah ain’t used to, an’ Ah’d like to learn how to do more stuff, an’ how to defend against all this stuff Ah ain’t used to. Um, Ah have a bow, too, but Ah’m not as good with that. Um, my first halberd here broke [She hooks a thumb back at that broken polearm], so if anyone's...good at hand-to-hand, Ah'd sure like to know how to do that...
Um, also…Ah’d…like to get to know folks? Ah’m also a farmer back home, so…Ah know a lot ‘bout plants an’ animals, an’ things like cookin’ an’...other country stuff. [She rubs that back of her neck mentioning that, eyes that look to be perhaps green darting away for a moment, but presses on.] Like…cookin’ an’ bakin’ an’ makin’ stuff. Um, Ah also like tea, have a buncha blends o’it already…an’...um, Ah’d…like to have folks over for tea or lunch some time?
[She’s kind of hit her limit, now, so the rest comes out a bit too fast.]
A-Anyway, A-Ah look forward to meetin’ an’ gettin’ to know all y’all!
[And she hurriedly turns off the feed, flustered and muttering in another language about her poor grammar and word choices.]

...didn't know you liked plants too.
no subject
Ah'd like that, Sir Donnie. 'Specially since Ah got my Sentinel armour an' the Wishblade back.
[The weapon's name is accompanied by a tinge of awe and excitement as she nods back towards the fancy halberd. She got her baby back~ Nephenee does tilt her head, though, at his last comment.]
Ah didn't mention bein' a farmer when we was talkin' a bit ago? [She honestly can't recall...but they were also talking more...combat and PTSD stuff, so...] Huh, Ah'm sorry. Yeah, grew up on a farm. Took it over when Pa died.
[She almost says that evenly. Almost.]
Learned a lot 'bout plants from that an' from livin' in the country. Ya like plants, too?
no subject
[Being called 'sir' is still kind of weird. And it also reminds him of the fussy nobles he'd had to deal with who were always so insistent in being addressed "properly."]
Wishblade, huh?
[It definitely looks....painful.]
Oh- you did, but...I didn't know if that meant you were interested in plants.
[His smile is strained with the mention of how Nephenee came to take over the farm, and he gives a small nod.]
Yeah. Got a little garden in the Vault, actually. I've always liked plants. Even before I got into machinery.
no subject
Yeah, Ah think it's called that 'cause it's supposed to bring good luck to the wielder. But the charm for that got stolen 'fore Ah could get 'er back, it looks like. If ya hear 'bout any...real lucky Imperials, lemme know. Might gotta go beat 'em up for it.
[She forgot to put that in her post, oops. Well, she'll post another thing later about that, when she's not busy trying to be social.]
Regardless, she's real strong, an' blessed by Yune to not break an' be able to hit spirits. [She's not sure if they'll meet spirits here, but maybe!] Won her fightin' 'gainst another Sentinel.
[But she should continue the rest of the conversation...]
As for plantin', Ah've got some growin' boxes here in Flotsam, but Ah want to make 'em lot bigger. See if we can't get some sorta ship garden goin'. [She doesn't know if that's possible, but that sure won't stop her from trying.] What sorta plants ya like to deal with?
no subject
[Not that really believes in that sort of thing.]
Spirits...? [He squints a bit, unsure if he's understanding that part right.]
Hm. It'd be considerably harder to make a garden on Flotsam considering the environment there. Not impossible though. You might have to shelter it or have something you can move indoors if not have it partially indoors to start, the storms can get pretty crazy by the coast so I imagine in the open sea it can get turbulent.
I like any kind. They're all different. The ones I have are mostly from the forests in Innistis.

Still, would be nice to have it back. It's a lil' disc with engravin's on it. Frankly surprised they found it under the shaft wrappin's.
[She's frankly surprised at her stuff ending up in this world, if she's being honest. She didn't have it on her when she got yoinked here...]
Yeah. Ah dunno if it's any spirits at all, but for sure elemental ones of thunder, wind, an' fire. At least the ones that were helpin' protect Ashera in that final fight.
...Ah remember readin' somethin' in a book in the Vault 'bout growin' plants in raised beds, or in water? Maybe somethin' like that? Ah'm mostly jus' usin' pots for stuff right now...
[She wants to grow things IN THE LAND, but that's a bit tricky when she's stationed on a boat...]
no subject
[He huffs, but makes a mental note, not that a disc with engraving is very helpful but it's something.
Ashera... Ah. That had been a confusing topic so Donnie decides not to touch that one. Spirits of elements?? Definitely not his area of expertise.]
Those would be the most likely methods you'd use, I agree. A raised bed is just a step up from a pot, just takes up a larger space, but really, you can have it as big or small as you want. Water would be good, except if the seas get too choppy, they'd be most likely to spill over. Not the end of the world, but you just have to remember to take into account the fact that you aren't working on steady ground.
no subject
Nephenee listens to his explanation, before sighing.]
Right... [Not for the first time, she kind of wishes she had gotten assigned to The Vault. Even if there's a bunch of people there that know way more than her...they have the underground fields.]
This whole boat thin' is still kinda weird, honestly...used to bein' on steady ground for farmin', with dirt an' sun an' all. Ah ain't done the raised bed thin', jus' heard 'bout 'em readin', much less on a boat...how hard ya think it'd be to build?
[Not that she's afraid of hard work, but frankly she's never even seen one.]
no subject
But a raised bed isn't difficult. If you can build a box, then you can build one of those. I'll come help if you need it, or I can even put together a frame if you let me know how big of a thing you'll need.
no subject
If it's jus' a box, Ah can make some, though Ah won't say no to help...Ah'll hafta figure how big an' stuff, though. Reckon it depends on where Ah can get away with puttin' it.
For the sun...Maybe some sort o'canopy o'er the beds that we can pull down quick? Is that somethin' we can build?
[Neph knows how to make stationary things fine, but this feels more like Donnie's wheelhouse.]
no subject
You can always start small and build up from there. A canopy would work...something like a tent, even. If you have at least one wall to set up against, we can probably just make like...a stable sort of setup? Does...that make sense? I am not claiming to be a farm expert but you know how stables are open on one side and I think a door or something for the animals to be put in and taken out through...
no subject
[She thinks about what Donnies's saying, before responding.]
Depends on the setup? What you're describin' could be a stable or, if ya don't have a door, jus' the open side, a shelter. There's some stables open on all sides, too.
[She does manage to stop herself from going too far down the rabbit hole as much as she really could...]
But Ah think Ah understand what ya mean. Ah'll hafta see if Ah can find a wall for that sorta thin', though...space's kinda limited on these ships. All Ah can do in my room is some herbs an' such.
[Given how many pots she's got in her room already in the feed, and more off=screen, not having a bigger space is kind of an issue...]

[Because, frankly, Nephenee is used to thinking of stuff on the ground, not on a ship.]

[She says like she isn't already a tidy person or that she doesn't have food around. It's the principle of the thing!]
