A pirate's tactic
This is more directed to those, who like me have been dragged to this world, though I won't fault a native for listening in.
I am curious as to what we might have in common: world names, languages, culture, technology - and what is different.
This isn't just idle curiosity or a means of trying to find some comfort of familiarity in such a strange land, but I suspect if there is enough of a commonality in one area or another, we could in someway use it to our advantage against the Empire.

[There's a disconcerting moment where Rezo has trouble putting his thoughts into the words of his own native tongue, and the words start out uncertain, but grow steadier as he speaks:]
{I come from the barrier lands on the world known as the Red Orb. I've travelled to various lands, from the Elmekia Empire to the countries of the Coastal Alliance and the frozen edges of Kalmaart. I used to be a priest serving under His Radiance, Flare Dragon Cepheid, as well as a researcher working with the Sorcerer's Guild.}
[Switching back to the Imperial language:]
...Does any of that sound familiar to you?
no subject
I'm afraid not, it doesn't sound familiar either.

[Though he didn't have much opportunity to actually speak properly with other Outlanders before joining the Corsairs.]
Still, there may be points of commonality between our worlds... What gods do they worship in yours? Do you have a church like the Church of the Divine?

[And having someone local listening in might be helpful in translating specific cultural or technological touchtones to something they can understand]

I must say though you seem to take to our spoken language fairly well. Is it something you have experience with?

...We have sky islands too.
no subject
[Now that piques his interest]
I suppose there's planets that have sky islands where I am from, but not one that I have run across in my voyage.

...Planets?

I know... two languages from my world well enough for conversation, picked up bits of three others - one for ritual, one from my hobbies, one from living next to a lot of speakers.
{My first language we call English.} {I also speak decent Korean, thanks Dad.}
no subject
[Korean - he recognizes that one, but he doesn't speak it at all, and he reads more than speak when it comes to English - it's mostly a science language in his time frame.]
no subject
{More interesting: the fact that none of the Imps speak English but we do. Use it right and it's be like - trying to decode Navajo as a German soldier.}

[Despite having a better grasp of this new language, she cannot get rid of her accent. It sounds like some mix of the southeast US and...the Chūgoku dialect? It's really country.]
Uh...{Ah'm Nephenee, a Sentinel from the country of Crimea, under Her Majesty Queen Elincia. Originally, Ah'm from Ohma, though. It's a lil' village up north.}
[Whatever language she's speaking, it...sounds somewhat European, sort of but not quite like a very flowy Slavic? Tellesian is a weird one, and her dialect more so.]
Did...any o'that make sense, Sir?
no subject
It sounds close to some languages I've heard, but nothing I can say I'd recognize for certain. And call me Harlock, Sir is too military for my taste.
no subject
Ah, alright. Reckon it soundin' too military makes sense, 'cause Ah'm a Sentinel [because that makes total sense with barely any context, Nephie], but...Harlock, then. Ah'm Nephenee. Nice to meet ya.
Um, what 'bout ya? What's your language sound like?

[OOC Note: Aerich's world has two groups derived from humanity, both of which insist they are human and the others are not. He's from the group that is more different than baseline humans.]

[He repeats the word, inadvertently stressing the wrong syllable]
What... are your people like?

[Gohan tries switching to his native tongue. It's almost word-for-word the same as standard Japanese.]
I come from a planet called Earth. I live on the slopes of Mt. Paozu, and go to school in Satan City. Um...
[He thinks before continuing, again in his native tongue.]
Have you ever heard of objects called "Dragon Balls?"
no subject
No - that term isn't familiar to me, nor are places you mentioned. I think we're from different Earths, but just to be sure - are there humans living on other planets? Do they travel in the Sea of Stars...?

Magic does not exist where I am from, but our technology continued, but thankfully our... last major wars did not have that exchange, but our Earth is in poor shape.
[Though he pursed his lips at 'Judgment day' that sounds... apocalyptic]
